The second skin videos were disturbing to say the least. My boyfriend and my brother are both very much into gaming. I have even played with them a few times. I am constantly yelling at them because they spend so many hours playing the xbox. I even joke with them and say that they are addicted, but I guess what they do is harmless compared to the individuals on the videos.
The social networking aspect of it is impressive because it beats out facebook and many other forms of communication. I couldn't believe the way it defined some of these peoples lives. It became the only way that they interacted with people. Of the few times that I have played, one thing that stood out to me was the young age of many of the gamers. There were 7 year olds that were better than my 16 year old brother. To become that good you have to spend alot of time playing. It makes me wonder how these kids will interact in the real world when they grow up if they spend that much time in a virtual reality. It's kind of scary to think about

ReplyDeleteI would agree! Which is likely why these "alien landscapes" are so intriguing to many.
Thats a good point about it being scary to think about the small children that are so interested in gaming. I would have to agree.
ReplyDeleteIt's so true about 7 year olds being so good at video games! I can't tell you how many times my brother has been on xbox live (where you can play xbox games online) and gets his butt kicked by a 7 year old and the entire time the 7 year old is just calling my brother names and telling him how much he sucks. It's sooo funny to watch but at the same time you have to think "where are this kid's parents?!"
ReplyDeleteYea, I agree very much
ReplyDeleteIt is scary that younger children are now playing games alot too... well all I know is that my children are going to be brought up like I was, because all this gaming are making them less knowledgeable
